SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to woodworking, in particular, to production of slabs and panels. Core layer for a multi-layer composite comprises zigzag-shaped wooden elements having zigzag-like plate-like portions where the lifting portion of the element with the adjacent descending portion of this zigzag shape forms a common vertex. Elements of a zigzag shape are located in the core layer in such a way that two vertices of two zigzag elements, which may be the same or different from each other, intersect with each other at a non-zero angle, and these two elements are rigidly connected to each other at the intersection point. Wooden elements in the core layer have one or more configurations. Wooden elements are randomly distributed in the core layer, or are arranged side by side and one on top of each other in a random way, or randomly arranged, and the vertices intersect with each other at different angles.
EFFECT: strength and load-bearing capacity of a multi-layer composite increases.
