SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an information and measurement system and can be used in radar technology for high-precision assessment of ice conditions in areas of offshore production and transportation of oil and gas resources. Radar system implementing the proposed method comprises a radar control unit, a frequency synthesizer, M-code generator, two modulators, two power amplifiers, a microwave switch, an antenna control unit, an antenna system unit, three antennas, three high-frequency amplifier, three mixers, a device for temporary automatic gain control, four intermediate frequency amplifiers, an intermediate frequency switch, an automatic and manual gain control unit, four blocks of phase detectors, phase shifter, two blocks of analog-to-digital converters of quadrature signals into digital form, primary digital processing unit, two-port buffer random access memory, digital meter, three multipliers, three narrowband filters, a reference oscillator.

EFFECT: determination of the location of approaching dangerous objects by using the second and third measuring bases located in the azimuth and hypotenuse planes, the antennas of which are arranged in the form of a rectangular triangle.
