FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to ophthalmology, and more particularly to a method and system for treating a visual impairment associated with pathologies of additional eye muscles or with diplopia, namely, misalignment of the patient's eyes. Choose one eye as the dominant eye with the simultaneous selection of the second eye as the non-dominant one. Track the current position of the dominant and non-dominant eyes with a close look at the situation and determine the current direction of the gaze of the dominant eye. Obtain electronically through a digital video camera a wide-angle image of the environment, which the patient is staring at, while the digital video camera is stationary and does not require mechanical displacement. Calculate the angular deviation between the indicated direction of the gaze of the dominant eye and the direction of the gaze of the non-dominant eye. Image of the environment is electronically processed such that after processing, the image becomes electronically shifted in accordance with said angular deviation, and the processed image is displayed at least before the non-dominant eye. In this case, a device is used in the form of corrective glasses with a tracking device attached thereto, adapted to track the movement of at least one of the patient's eyes, a device for creating a digital image and electronically processing said image.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides a continuous correction of the visual impairment associated with misalignment of the patient's eyes due to a shift in the electronically processed image of the situation obtained by the fixed compact wide-angle video camera, taking into account the angular deviation between the directions of the dominant and non-dominant eyes that accordingly provides correction of this angular deviation when displaying such a shifted image before the non-dominant eye.
