FIELD: pumps and compressors.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to air compressor (1) for a pneumatic installation, in particular for a pressure brake system of a commercial vehicle. Compressed air cooler (8) is arranged downstream of air compressor (1). Cooling medium flows through coolant housing (12), in which there is tubular short section (15) for cooling compressed air and tubular long section (16) for cooling compressed air, which are at the end connected to the common outlet of compressed air (connection site 17). Compressed air cooler (8) is integrated into head (7) of air compressor. Compressed air inlet (18) of cooler (8) is matched with temperature controlled distributor (19) of compressed air which, in order to achieve and maintain nominal outlet temperature (9) of the compressed air of the cooler, depending on the actual temperature recorded therein, distributes the supplied compressed air to the inlet of short cooling section (15) and / or to the input of long cooling section (16).

EFFECT: preventing freezing of the cooling coil.
