SUBSTANCE: invention relates to oil industry. Method of developing a reservoir of high viscosity oil with water-oil intervals includes the construction of horizontal production and higher injection wells with installation of tail filters located in the horizontal section of the well, carrying out geophysical studies before wells are operated to determine water-oil intervals adjacent to a production well, isolating water-oil intervals, injection of a displacing agent with a specific gravity below the specific gravity of the formation water and with temperature above 80 °C into the injection well and the selection of products from the production well. Geophysical studies are carried out to determine water-oil intervals before run-off of a tail filter. Isolation of water-oil intervals is made by supplying a tail filter from within with nozzles with sealing caps that are located opposite the water-oil intervals. After obtaining a hydrodynamic connection between the injection and production wells, uniform heating and increasing the reservoir temperature near the production well to 80–100 °C a water-oil interval is opened, destroying inside cut-off plugs for the inflow of additional products into the well.
EFFECT: increase in the production rate by at least 50 % due to increase in the filtration area of a production well.
