FIELD: pipe welding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the butt welding of thermoplastic pipes by a heated tool and can be used for welding polyethylene pipes and/or parts. In a pipe welding method, which consists in burning off the ends of pipes and/or parts by a tool heated to or above the melting temperature of the pipe material and/or parts, upsetting after removing the tool of the melted ends under pressure and keeping under this pressure for a certain time, temperature of the ends of the pipes to be welded and/or parts is preliminarily adjusted to a temperature from a predetermined temperature range by preheating with a special device, and the melting of the ends is carried out with a heating tool, while the cooling of a weld and the ends of the welded pipes and/or parts is also carried out with by means of the above-mentioned special tool in a closed limited space that provides air temperature around the welded joint from a predetermined range of ambient air temperature.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention is to obtain at too low ambient temperatures a weld of the same quality as welding in a given temperature range of ambient air.
