FIELD: data processing.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to the automation technique. Control and data transmission system is proposed for the purpose of managing critical processes for safety, containing I/O modules connected via the first communication network to the gateway module, the gateway module being connected to a second communication network hierarchically superior to the first communication network and acting as a gateway between the first and second communication networks. I/O modules contain a diagnostic block for generating status data. Gateway module and I/O modules exchange signals through the first communication network in an error-protected mode. In addition, the gateway module is designed for safe data processing. According to the group of inventions, the gateway module and I/O modules are also provided for use in such a control and data transmission system, as well as a method for secure process control.

EFFECT: creation of means for safe and optimal data exchange in automation.
