FIELD: computer technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of computer technology for communication via a remote terminal device. The device shown as an example contains the first CPU module, which is designed to communicate with the process control system host. The example device also contains a first rack containing a backplane and multiple slot connectors. The set of slot connectors contains the main slot connector for receiving the first CPU module. The backplane communicates the first CPU module with at least one of the first communication module or the first I/O module inserted in the second of the slot connectors. The backplane contains a first communication bus for transmitting I/O data and a second communication bus for transmitting at least one of the maintenance data, transit data, product information data, archive data, diagnostic data, or configuration data.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at improving network configuration and network monitoring tools.
