Invention relates to banknote processing device (10) which comprises upper module (12) and safe module (16) for accommodating currency cassette (14). Device (10) further comprises an intermediate module (34) for transferring the driving force of drive unit (26) of upper module (12) to currency cassette mechanism (32) and/or the transport elements of safe module (16). Intermediate module (34) is configured to be adapted to at least two different thicknesses (D) of walls (28) of safe module (16), so that, at least at these two wall thicknesses (D) it can transmit the force from drive unit (26) to currency cassette mechanism (32) or, respectively, the transport elements of safe module (16).
