FIELD: wireless communication equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of wireless communication networks, specifically to determining whether separate radio channels are available for use. To achieve the technical result, the location of a wireless device is obtained, multiple sensing devices proximate to the wireless device are identified and signal information sensed by the multiple sensing devices in relation to an individual radio white space channel is obtained. Signal information from the multiple sensing devices is collectively analyzed to determine whether the individual radio white space channel is available for use by the wireless device at said location, and when the collective analyzing determines that the individual radio white space channel is available for use, the wireless device is caused to communicate data over the individual radio white space channel rather than a cellular channel.
EFFECT: enabling use of vacant radio white space channel and avoiding undesirable collisions in data transmission.
