FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a foam-forming composition having good low temperature stability and method of use thereof for enhanced oil recovery. Aqueous foaming solution of an anionic surfactant for use in an oil recovery process comprising one or more alpha-olefin sulfonates - AOS, a solvent having the chemical formula C8H18O3, C8H16O3 or a mixture thereof, and water. Method of extracting oil from the reservoir during the injection of gas into the reservoir, comprising the following steps: at least a periodic injection of gas and a foaming agent into the manifold, wherein the foaming composition comprises the above aqueous foaming solution of an anionic surfactant, and contacting the hydrocarbons in the manifold with foam and gas to facilitate recovery of hydrocarbons from the reservoir. Invention is developed in the dependent claims of the formula.

EFFECT: technical result is the increase of stability at low temperatures.
