SUBSTANCE: valve plug comprises cage, a plunger comprising a seal gland and a seal assembly at least partially positioned in the seal gland. Seal assembly includes a back-up ring having a cone-shaped protrusion and a seal in which a groove for receiving the protrusion is formed, wherein the seal comprises a core at least partially surrounded by an annular housing, wherein the back-up ring is at least partially positioned within the annular housing and pressure acts on the back-up ring to press the protrusion into the groove, wherein the engagement between the protrusion and the groove is used to press the seal into sealing engagement with the inner surface of the cage.
EFFECT: seal assemblies used in liquid valves are described.
