FIELD: drilling of soil or rock.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for manual surface drilling with the possibility of simultaneous sampling of undamaged soil in conditions of permafrost in mineral and peat deposits, which can be used for conducting laboratory tests. Method of manual drilling of frozen horizons in soils and in the upper layer of permafrost with simultaneous sampling of undisturbed soil samples, includes soil drilling and sample extraction. They lay a soil profile cut to the level of perennial frozen horizons in mineral and peat deposits, to the bottom of the soil profile or to the surface of the soil, a device is installed vertically to drill perennial frozen rocks, drilling is carried out to the level of the embedded soil section. During the drilling process, samples are taken periodically after 10–15 cm, using a device for drilling perennial frozen rocks, made in the form of metal steel pipe 1.5–3 m in length with an internal diameter of 40–45 mm with a wall thickness of 3–4 mm, in the upper part, the outer surface of the pipe is articulated with head restraint to protect the walls from impact. Drilling is carried out by plugging the pipe into the ground with intrenching hammer with moderate impacts, after drilling to a depth of 10–15 cm, the pipe is removed from the well by rotary movements, determine the depth of sampling by installing a roulette, extract the soil sample from the pipe, when crushed edges of the pipe arise from impacts, they are cut with a hacksaw and continue drilling the well to the required depth.

EFFECT: technical result consists in simplification of sampling with undisturbed structure in conditions of permafrost, improving quality of sampling, excluding soil mixing, ensuring the availability of transportation in the conditions of the extreme north, reducing the material intensity.
