FIELD: astronautics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to rocket and space equipment and can be used in the development of jet propulsion units (PU) intended for maneuvering manned spacecraft (SC). Method of creating a reactive thrust of a manned spacecraft, including obtaining of hydrogen and oxygen on board the spacecraft by electrolysis of water with the use of a portion of electrolytic oxygen for breathing, storage of hydrogen and residual oxygen under excessive pressure, direction of these gases at a given time into the combustion chamber of the rocket engine and ignition of these gases, as well as release of carbon dioxide from the air of the inhabited compartments, while the carbon dioxide released from the air is collected, compressed and stored on board the spacecraft, and after ignition of the oxygen-hydrogen mixture in the combustion chamber, the collected carbon dioxide is sent there at a rate not interrupting the combustion of the oxygen-hydrogen mixture. In this case, hydrogen and oxygen are fed into the engine at a weight ratio of about 1:4.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the thrust-to-weight ratio of the manned spacecraft, as well as the possibility of holding longer flights.
