FIELD: weapons.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of small arms with optical methods for automatically determining source data for opening fire. When sighting a target, the initial state of the optical device is determined, which consists in determining the interconnected dimensions of the ranging element and the distance thereto. Ballistic information is received and images are received from an image sensor. At least part of the image is displayed on a display. Ranging element is overlaid on the displayed portion of the image. First zoom input is received to set a first zoom value. First zoom value corresponds to a first distance from the optical device. First projectile position is determined based on the first distance and the ballistic information. Area of interest is also displayed based on the zoom value. Area of interest corresponds at least partially to the trajectory of the projectile. Also disclosed is a device for sighting a target, comprising a housing, a display, an image sensor, and a controller configured to control the device in a default zoom mode or a ballistic zoom mode. In the default zoom mode, increasing the zoom level changes the field of view along the optical path from the device to the target, and in ballistic scaling mode, increasing the zoom level changes the field of view along the ballistic path from the device.
EFFECT: providing a fully digital, hands-free solution to the task of accurately aiming a weapon from a long distance, enabling the input of all the necessary information to fire a shot from a distance, without taking hands from the weapon by simply tilting the weapon from side to side.
