FIELD: control systems.
SUBSTANCE: process control device is proposed. Process control device contains a process control valve, an actuator, a digital valve controller ('DVC') and a processor. Actuator is connected to the process control valve and is configured to control the position of the process control valve. DVC is communicatively connected to the process control valve and actuator. DVC is configured to receive the first data and the second data, the first data being associated with the flow of fluid through the actuator or the DVC at the first time, and the second data is associated with the flow of fluid through the actuator or the DVC at the second time point, which is different from the first time point. Processor is configured to aggregate the first data and the second data, as well as perform diagnostic and/or predictive techniques based on the aggregated data.
EFFECT: proposed to provide diagnostic and/or prognostic capabilities in the process control system.
