FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to proppants used in fracturing to stimulate the production of fluids from subterranean formations. Proppant intended for use in fracturing operations includes a particle and a coating applied to a particle formed from an aqueous coating composition comprising 2–65 wt % surfactant and 1–35 wt % polymer binder, the balance is water based on the total weight of said composition. According to another embodiment, the proppant for use in fracturing operations includes a particle and a coating applied to a particle formed from an aqueous coating composition comprising 2–65 wt % nonionic alkoxylate surfactant and 1–35 wt % polymer binder, obtained from butyl acrylate, styrene, acrylamide and, optionally, hydroxyethyl methacrylate, the balance is water based on the total weight of said composition. EFFECT: technical result is reduced dust formation during transloading, conveying and/or offloading of the proppant at a wellsite and/or at intermediate shipping transload points.
