FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for preventing biofouling in the water intakes of water supply systems and cooling systems for condensers of thermal power plants. Electric station of protection of direct current is connected with a “positive” electrode to the metal pipeline protected from biofouling through the protector, which prevents the anodic destruction of the metal pipeline, and the negative electrode is connected to the cathode. Electric potential at the electrodes should not exceed the values of the standard electrode potential of the pipeline material. Due to the attraction of water molecules to charged surfaces, several stable layers of equally oriented water molecules are formed.
EFFECT: several layers of pure (at the molecular level) water are created at the surfaces of pipelines, which represent a stable barrier for fungi and bacteria (including zebra mussel), which prevents microorganisms from fixing on the surface of the pipeline due to their positive charge.
