SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric power industry and can be used in electric power systems, power supply systems, electrical networks to maintain the dynamic stability of synchronous machines and power plants. Method of electric braking of synchronous generator is that the braking resistor is connected when emergency accelerating unbalance of power of the synchronous generator occurs, in which synchronous generator is disconnected from the network when the braking resistor is connected, and plugged in the network when synchronization conditions are met, namely when slip and difference of the angles of synchronized voltages are less than acceptable values, while disconnecting the braking resistor.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increasing efficiency of electric braking of synchronous generator.
