FIELD: electric power industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in electric power systems, power supply systems, electrical networks to maintain the dynamic stability of synchronous machines and power plants. The technical result is achieved due to the method of electrical slowdown of synchronous generators. The method consists in that slowdown resistors are connected in case of emergency accelerating power imbalances to one part of synchronous generators operating in parallel at the power plant with simultaneous disconnection of this part from the network. Subsequently, the disconnected synchronous generators are connected to the network when the synchronization conditions are met with simultaneous disconnection of the slowdown resistors. In this case, the other part of the synchronous generators remains connected to the network and does not have slowdown resistors.

EFFECT: simplifying the control system and reducing the number of disconnected generators and the number of slowdown resistors used at the plant while maintaining dynamic stability up to the power limit according to the condition of static stability and while maintaining high efficiency of electric slowdown.
