FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely anesthesiology, intensive care and obstetrics and gynecology, and can be used for spinal anesthesia during caesarean section in pregnant women with a baseline blood pressure not higher than 140 mm Hg. For this purpose, after an intrathecal injection of half an anesthetic dose, 1–2 ml of a 20 % solution of caffeine-benzoate sodium is intravenously administered. Introduction of a solution of sodium caffeine-benzoate is completed simultaneously with the administration of an anesthetic.
EFFECT: method provides effective prevention of arterial hypotension in spinal anesthesia in this category of patients by preventing and / or leveling effects, caused by sympathetic blockade by a "soft", dosed rise in the tone of the venous bed, which is achieved due to the introduction of a solution of caffeine-benzoate sodium at a certain time in conditions of oppressive action of the injected anesthetic on the sympathetic nervous system.
