METHOD OF RADIOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT OF HEIGHT GREAT TROCHANTER Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61B6/00

Abstract RU 2680126 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to traumatology, orthopedics and radiology, and can be used for radiological assessment of the location of the great trochanter. Determine the tip of the great trochanter relative to the head of the femur on the radiograph of the hip joint, made in a direct projection. Draw a line of the anatomical axis of the femur. Next, draw through the upper and lower points of the contour of the femoral head, respectively, the upper and lower lines perpendicular to the anatomical axis of the femur. Measure the height of the great trochanter as the distance from the top of the great trochanter to the lower line, perpendicular to the anatomical axis of the femur. If the tip of the great trochanter is located below the lower line, perpendicular to the anatomical axis of the femur, then the height of the great trochanter is negative. Half of the vertical size of the femoral head is found as half the distance between the upper and lower lines perpendicular to the anatomical axis of the femur. Calculate the index of the height of the great trochanter (hereinafter – IHGT) as the ratio of the value of the height of the greater trochanter to the value of half the vertical size of the femoral head. With the value of IHGT=1, the location of the large skewer is evaluated as an anatomical variant of the norm. With the value of IHGT>1, the location of the great trochanter is evaluated as an anatomical variant, corresponding to coxa vara. With the value of IHGT<1, the positions of the great trochanter are evaluated as an anatomical variant, corresponding to coxa valga.

EFFECT: method improves the accuracy of estimating the location of the great trochanter of the femur by determining the ratio of the linear values of the heights of the great trochanter and half of the vertical size of the femoral head using x-ray.
