SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanisms for adjusting the height of a vehicle seat, in particular to a manually-operated actuator for adjusting the height of a seat. Said actuator includes a rotatory actuator-driven torque input mechanism, a torque output mechanism, and a linking gearing. Said rotatory actuator-driven torque input mechanism comprises a planetary gear assembly defining a first axis. Said torque output mechanism comprising a worm gear driving eccentric pins engaging a cycloidal drive assembly. Said cycloidal drive assembly comprises an eccentrically driven gear engaged by the pins. Said torque output mechanism defines a second axis that is offset from and parallel to the first axis. Said linking gearing operatively links the torque input mechanism and the torque output mechanism.
EFFECT: improved comfort during use.
