FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for removing lignin from lignocellulosic biomass. Method includes feeding lignocellulosic biomass and a first aqueous solution into a reactor, the lignocellulosic biomass and the first aqueous solution forming a reaction mixture; reducing the pressure in the reactor below 0.8 bar (0.08 MPa) absolute pressure, preferably 0.5 bar (0.05 MPa) absolute pressure, more preferably below 0.2 bar (0.02 MPa) absolute pressure; keeping the reaction mixture at a predetermined extraction temperature and adding at least one extractant, such as a base or acid, to the reactor and extracting lignin from the biomass into the liquid phase of the reaction mixture.
EFFECT: method of extracting lignin is disclosed.
