FIELD: agriculture; machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, in particular, to agricultural machine building. Method for determining the power of an internal combustion engine, comprising the fact that at minimum engine idle speed, instantaneous fuel supply is increased to maximum value and when the rated rpm is reached, angular acceleration of the crankshaft is measured, at that, in addition to engine at maximum idling speed, fuel supply is cut off and in process of coasting upon reaching of rated rotation frequency negative angular acceleration of crankshaft is measured, and then repeatedly measuring the negative angular acceleration of the crankshaft, but with the flywheel of the known moment of inertia connected to the power take-off shaft. Using the formulas obtained from the motion equations of the crankshaft run-out of the engine without load and with the flywheel of the known moment of inertia, the actual moment of inertia of the engine is determined. Then at minimum engine idle speed, fuel supply is instantly increased to maximum value and when the rated rpm is reached, angular acceleration of the crankshaft is measured and the engine power is determined from the equation of the crankshaft acceleration, taking into account the actual moment of inertia.

EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of measuring power of internal combustion engine.
