FIELD: motor vehicle industry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of transport machine building. In the first embodiment, a mechanism for attaching a bike rack to a vehicle includes a support member and an attachment assembly. Support member is attached to the vehicle, comprising a frame located behind an exterior wall of the vehicle. Attachment assembly is secured to the support member and includes a receiver. Exterior wall includes a removable portion behind which the attachment assembly is located. According to the second embodiment, the mechanism for attaching a bike rack to a vehicle includes a removable license plate holder having a tab and a locking mechanism. Method of attaching a bike rack to a vehicle comprises steps of mounting the support member behind the exterior wall of the vehicle; providing the attachment assembly; making the exterior wall with an opening adjacent the attachment assembly; remove the license plate holder; attaching the bike rack to the attachment assembly and attaching the license plate holder to the far end of the bike rack.
EFFECT: reduced damage to the vehicle body when attaching a bicycle thereto.
