FIELD: astronautics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to space research and technology and can be used to extract water from Martian water ice. Water ice is collected from a Martian surface seasonally released from solid carbon dioxide and placed inside a Martian thermo-karst cavity. Then the cavity is clogged up and water ice is heated by increasing pressure of water vapor inside the cavity.

EFFECT: invention increases efficiency of extracting water from Martian water ice.
