FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a UV-treated polyimide membrane, a method for production thereof and a method of separating at least one gas from the mixture using such a membrane. UV-treated polyimide membrane is made from a polyimide polymer having the formula given below, wherein m and n independently represent integers from 10 to 500 and are in ratio from 1:10 to 10:1. Method of producing a UV-treated polyimide polymer membrane involves condensation of pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) with mixture of 2,4,6-trimethyl-1,3-phenylenediamine (TMPDA) and 4,4'-methylene bis(2,6-dimethylaniline) (TMMDA) in a polar solvent to obtain a polyimide polymer. Further, a polyimide polymer membrane is obtained from the polymer. Polyimide polymer membrane is then treated with UV radiation. Method of separating at least one gas from the mixture involves contacting a mixture of gases with one side of said polyimide polymer membrane, leading to penetration of at least one gas through said membrane. Then, on the other side of the polyimide polymer membrane, a permeate gas composition having a portion of at least one gas penetrating through the membrane is removed. Mixture of gases is selected from a group comprising a mixture of carbon dioxide and methane, a mixture of hydrogen and methane, a mixture of helium and methane, mixture of at least one volatile organic compound and at least one atmospheric gas, a mixture of nitrogen and hydrogen, a mixture of paraffins and olefins.
.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a membrane having high permeability.
