FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cardiovascular surgery, and can be used to determine presence of internal carotid artery (ICA) in its chronic atherosclerotic segmental occlusion. After detecting the segmental nature of the internal carotid artery occlusion in the course of the reconstructive operation, after recovering the main blood flow, volumetric blood flow is measured along the restored internal carotid artery by flowmetry. Detection of volumetric blood flow in ICA of less than 150 ml/min indicates presence of patient suffering tandem involvement intracranial portion of ICA and establishes indications for angiography and stenting of intracranial part of artery.
EFFECT: method provides reducing a risk of carotid artery thrombosis and cerebral circulation disorder by measuring volume blood flow in an internal carotid artery by flowmetry during reconstructive surgery.
