FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing highly saturated nitrile rubber. Disclosed is a method of producing highly saturated nitrile rubber involves a polymerisation step, a coagulation step and a hydrogenation step. Mixture of monomers is polymerised at the polymerisation stage. Mixture of monomers includes α,β-ethylenically unsaturated nitrile monomer and diene monomer in a solvent to obtain a nitrile rubber dispersion or solution. Coagulation is used to coagulate dispersions or nitrile rubber solution at 10 °C to 60 °C to obtain solid form of nitrile rubber. Hydrogenation step promotes solid form of nitrile rubber obtained at the stage of coagulation, dispersion or dissolving in a solvent to obtain a dispersion or nitrile rubber solution. Hydrogenation reaction contains compounds with a mercapto group of 9–12 carbon atoms and is 50 wt. ppm. or less and content of compound with mercapto group from 13 to 16 carbon atoms ranges from 1 to 120 wt. ppm. in relation to 100 wt. % of nitrile rubber in dispersion or nitrile rubber solution.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain highly saturated nitrile rubber which can improve the reactivity of the hydrogenation reaction.
