SUBSTANCE: invention relates to latex of nitrile rubber containing carboxyl groups, containing α,β-ethylenically unsaturated nitrile monomer link in amount of 8 wt % to 60 wt % and with iodine number of 120 or less, wherein total content of potassium and sodium in latex is from 2300 to 10000 wt ppm with respect to the entire latex, as well as a latex composition for friction material containing said latex and thermosetting resin.
