FIELD: aviation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to aircraft engineering, namely, to investigation of models of airplanes in wind tunnels on icing, in order to determine possibility of ice fragments ingress into air intake of aircraft engines. Ice simulators are attached to aircraft model wing front edge installed in wind tunnel, wherein the ice simulator is divided into fragments of equal length, which are retained on the aircraft model wing front edge using the reset mechanism, and when the parameters specified by the study are reached, they are released by the reset mechanism, while simultaneously recording the trajectory of motion in the air intake direction by video filming, and counting the number of trapped net-trap trapped.
EFFECT: estimation of safety of engine operation under considered conditions by means of investigation of ingress of ice fragments into engine air intake.
