FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and can be used for determination of pulp density in flow with widely measured range of its flow, in particular for control of pulp density during dredging or mining operations on dredgers. Method of measuring pulp density includes operations of generating a signal by a generator, sending a signal with an electroacoustic transducer both directly to the measured medium, and through the wall of the channel with pulp, receiving the reflected echo signal pulses by a converter, further execution thereof through a signal pre-processing unit, analog-to-digital conversion, band-pass filtering, accumulation of the medium backscattering signal envelope, dependence of amplitude of reflected signal on time after sending signal to logarithmic scale, approximation of graph with segment of straight line is performed, angle of inclination of said section is recorded and pulp density is determined as function of angle of inclination through coefficient of backscattering of medium.
EFFECT: technical result is improved pulp density measurement accuracy.
