METHOD OF RECOVERING SPEECH FUNCTION IN PATIENTS WITH ORAL AND OROPHARYNGEAL CANCER FOLLOWING ORGAN PRESERVING OPERATIONS Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC A61H1/00

Abstract RU 2694516 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, more specifically to oncology, and concerns methods of recovering speech function of oncological patients following organ-preserving oral and oropharyngeal surgeries. Throughout the whole recovery period, the speech quality is assessed by the spectral analysis indices of the sound disturbance using a software system: before the treatment; after surgical stage of combined treatment at the beginning of speech rehabilitation; on 10–12 days from the beginning of rehabilitation; after speech rehabilitation completion; 6 and 12 months after rehabilitation measures, wherein prior to the beginning of the combined treatment of the underlying disease, recording two reference syllable pronunciation sessions from the OncoYazyk, OncoYazykNK, OncoYazykN sets, then, in the recovery period, using this database to evaluate the speech restoration efficiency, wherein selecting a first syllable in the estimated record and recording two reference sessions, converting a pair of reference syllables to a single length, finding a measure of the difference between the reference pronunciation, pairwise conversion of the estimated syllable to the first and second reference syllables, determination of the difference measure in each pair, determination of the average value for the pairs evaluated – reference syllable, determination of the relation of the obtained average value to the measure of difference between the standard syllables, ratio of obtained value to gap from 0 to 1, wherein sequence of said actions is repeated for all syllable entries in session, and when syllable rating value approaches to 1 pronunciation is considered more qualitative, wherein the session evaluation value is determined as the average value of the estimates of all syllable entries included in the session, wherein at the beginning of the recovery, the length of the speech therapy sessions is 7–10 minutes, 3–5 times a day, further time is increased to 10–12 minutes, each exercise is performed 5–7 times in a row and held in a predetermined position on an account of up to five, at the stage of sound reproduction correction duration of occupancy makes 25–30 minutes, their intensity is increased with account of the patient’s general condition.

EFFECT: more effective recovery of speech function and reduced length of rehabilitation of patients following organ-preserving oral and oropharyngeal surgeries ensured by objective assessment of speech quality in the stages of combined treatment and rehabilitation.
