DEFLECTING DEVICE FOR DRILLING OF BRANCHES FROM HORIZONTAL BOREHOLE Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC E21B7/08

Abstract RU 2696696 C1

FIELD: soil or rock drilling.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to drilling of curved branches from open horizontal wellbore and represents a deflecting device. Proposed device comprises pipe with open ends provided with connection thread on its upper end for connection of pipe with open ends to pipe string and guide element arranged in pipe with open ends. At the inlet, the guide element has a tapered surface narrowing from the outside to the inside at angle of 10°, behind tapered surface guide element is made in form of longitudinal arc-shaped flute with angle of inclination of working surface 4°. Guide element is made of alloyed steel, and surface of longitudinal arc-shaped chute of guide element is strengthened by nitriding. In the pipe opposite to the longitudinal arc-shaped chute of the guide element there is a longitudinal cut at angle of 135°. Guide element is rigidly fixed in tube and shifted relative to leading edge of longitudinal pipe cut at distance of 1.5 m. Leading edge of the longitudinal cutout of the pipe is equipped with an insert made in the form of a segment with a tapered surface tapering from outside to inside at angle of 30°. Insert is rigidly attached to the leading edge of the longitudinal cutout of the pipe. On pipe at equal distance from its ends and at angle of 180° retainer is rigidly fixed relative to vertical axis of longitudinal arc-like chute and made in form of shell ring segment. In lower part of guide element there is a process central hole which does not intersect longitudinal arc-like chute of guide element. At the lower end of the pipe there is a connecting thread, by means of which it is connected to a spiral weighted drilling pipe and equipment for geophysical navigation.

EFFECT: simplified design of deflecting device, simplified process of drilling tool orientation in horizontal wellbore, exclusion of violation of geometry of branch path from planned in process of drilling, exclusion of opening by the branch of the water-bearing part of the formation, exclusion of milling of the end of the guide element and increase of its wear resistance during operation, exclusion of clamping of the drilling assembly at its extraction after drilling of the branch with the guide element of the deflecting device.
