FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to laser or hybrid welding and can be used in various industries, including in production of large-diameter pipes. In the method of welding large-diameter pipes there created is a database containing information on the joint position of edges along the length of the tubular billet and forming a tack weld by electric arc welding. Tack weld is followed by working suture with laser or laser-arc welding, where welding heads are placed relative to welding head performing tack weld at a distance higher than required for hardening of tack weld at maximum welding speed. Laser beam is directed to the joint of edges, determining its position on the basis of values of the database taking into account the invariable distance between the scanning sensor and the laser beam; at that, the tack weld and working seam are made on the same process line.
EFFECT: simplification of welding process at creation of data base of joint position of edges and preservation of high quality of welded seam.
