FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the welding of thick-walled metal structures, in particular to the hybrid laser-arc welding of steel thick-walled structures. Rate faces are affected by an electric arc, after which they are affected by a laser beam, the focus of which is located above the metal surfaces being welded. Grooving is carried out symmetrically, and areas of root faces - to each other at an angle of 1–5º. Diameter of the laser beam in the area of the laser beam incidence on the metal surfaces being welded is not less than the diameter calculated by the formula: d = 2h · tg (α / 2) -k, where α is an angle between the areas of root faces to each other, selected from the range of 1–5º; d is a diameter of a defocused laser beam in an area where the laser beam falls on the metal surfaces being welded, mm; h is a size of the root face, mm; k is a coefficient selected from the range of 0–0.3 mm.
EFFECT: technical result of the claimed invention is to obtain a high-quality weld of large-diameter pipes with a high level of mechanical characteristics of the welded joint made from rolled products with a thickness of 25 mm.
