FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system of zoned catalysts and a method of treating exhaust gas formed during combustion. System comprises a first SCR catalyst zone containing vanadium deposited on a metal oxide selected from TiO2, ZrO2, SiO2, CeO2 and Al2O3, and a second SCR catalyst zone containing a copper-loaded fine-pore molecular sieve, the first SCR catalyst zone being located upstream of the second SCR catalyst zone relative to the normal exhaust gas flow through the system, wherein the first SCR catalyst zone has a higher specific content of the porous coating relative to the second SCR catalyst zone, and the total specific content of copper is higher than the total specific content of vanadium.
EFFECT: invention enables to significantly reduce the undesirable formation of N2O while maintaining high overall selectivity by N2 in SCR reaction.
