FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used in production of hollow copper billets. After piercing, the copper billet is inverted and pushed out to the otter. Then the billet is heated for 30–35 minutes at rate of 180 °C/h to achieve forging temperature of 900–920°. Then, holes is mandreling by mandrel to full depth in one pass using backing ring. Length of mandrel corresponds to hole length.
EFFECT: reduced loss of metal to the otter and fewer passes.
