SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of preparing a catalyst for hydrofining petroleum fractions, comprising impregnating a support with a solution of compounds of Group VI metals and nickel oxycarbonate or cobalt, from a co-impregnating solution containing a phosphorus-molybdenum or phosphorus-tungsten heteropoly complex and nickel or cobalt metal ions Me²⁺. Carrier is a composite material consisting of a mixture of ZnO and Al₂O₃ oxides composition, obtained by mixing Zn and Al hydroxides, peptising them with a solution of organic acid (ice CH₃COOH), extrusion, drying at 60–80–100 °C, calcination at final temperature of 550 °C. Invention also relates to a catalyst for hydrofining petroleum fractions, obtained by said method, containing cobalt oxide or nickel oxide, phosphorus-molybdenum or phosphorus-tungsten heteropolycomplex, with the following content of components, wt. %: CoO or NiO 3.0–5.0; MoO₃ 14.0–20.0; WO₃ 6.0–20.0; P₂O₅ 0.3–0.8; ZnO from 0.1 to 10.0; aluminium oxide - balance.

EFFECT: technical result is higher catalytic activity of hydrotreating catalyst.
