FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used in electrical systems. For this purpose, the direct bias current supplied by exciter 5 to windings 1, 2 and 10 is changed, the inductance of windings 1, 2 of the reactor is changed, and consequently, the reactive power consumed by windings 1 and 2 from the mains. In such mode of consumption, switches 8, 9 are switched off and capacitor batteries 6, 7 are not used. Keys 8, 9 are closed in generation mode. Batteries 6, 7 generate reactive power. At that, they are connected to the same as of magnetization taps of windings, which eliminates constant component of voltage on capacitors. Magnetizing current is supplied to the reactor in such a way as to ensure the required level of generation, which is defined as the difference between the full total power of batteries 6, 7 minus the reactive power of windings 1, 2.
EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of losses due to exclusion of transformation of reactive current inside reactor and simplification of reactor.
