FIELD: instrument engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lecture demonstration devices in general physics course. Device for demonstration of law of conservation of momentum in three-body system is a system of three trolleys interacting through springs, which are always in stretched state. Centres of inertia of bogies are located in one vertical plane coinciding with direction of their possible movement. There are presented several versions of mutual location of bogies and their interconnections via springs. At insignificant friction in axles of bogies, this system of bodies can be considered as conditionally closed, in which law of conservation of momentum is observed when bogies move in horizontal direction. Vertically acting gravitational forces are compensated by support reaction.
EFFECT: all versions of instruments can be used to demonstrate law of conservation of momentum of a three-body system when the centre of inertia is fixed and when the centre of inertia moves uniformly and rectilinearly.
