FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of determining gravitational constant. When implementing proposed method, real system of interacting bodies with complex shape, is replaced with model system of bodies mounted on a thin rod and having shape of a ball. Further, values of gravitational constant are determined for all possible combinations of positions of interacting bodies of model system. To this end, period and amplitude of oscillations of bodies of model systems are measured and value of gravitational constant is calculated according to a specific formula. Upon detecting relationship between gravitational constant and combination of positions, said relationship is eliminated by selecting position of attracting bodies in near position, after which measurement is continued in a new model system. Experimental data is considered to be valid, if in all combinations of positions a value close to standard was obtained.

EFFECT: technical result of claimed invention is ability to determine gravitational constant for bodies of complex shapes.
