SUBSTANCE: invention relates to compositions containing at least one fluorine-containing ketone and which can be used for extinguishing or containing fire, to a method of stabilizing such compositions, methods for reducing destruction of said compositions, a method of slowing down the reaction between oxygen and the composition, methods of suppressing fire and extinguishing fire, as well as use of said compositions. Compositions contain (A) at least one fluorine-containing ketone; and (B) an effective amount of a stabilizer selected from a group consisting of an epoxy compound, a nitro compound, a sterically hindered phenol compound, β-diketone compound, a phosphite compound, a salicylate compound, a cinnamate compound, a hydroxybenzophenone compound, a hydroxybenzoic acid compound, alkoxymethane compound and organic thio compound with weight ratio of stabilizer from 0.0001 to 0.05. Described methods of reducing destruction of compositions relate to reduction of their destruction in the presence of moisture, moisture and metals, moisture and light, moisture, metals and acids during fire extinguishing, washing, cooling, conditioning or in a heat pump. Methods of suppressing or extinguishing fire include application of at least one composition on at least part of flame or source of fuel for flame or accordingly application for prevention of ignition or burning in sealed closed space. Described in the present invention composition is stable under conditions of use and can be used as a fire-extinguishing agent, agent-heat carrier, agent for prevention of melting of magnesium alloys, solvent, cleaning agent, gas-forming agent, propellant for aerosols, insulating medium or gas for electrochemical etching.

EFFECT: invention enables to reduce instability of fluorine-containing ketones under various severe operating conditions of compositions containing fluorine-containing ketones.
