FIELD: ecology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing and decontaminating oil-contaminated soils in field conditions and can be used for remediation of lands. Electric current is passed between anode and cathode electrodes installed in oil contaminated soil. Cylindrical cathodes made of steel and graphite anodes connected to a direct current source are immersed in oil contaminated soil at temperature of +2 °C. They are arranged with parallel batteries connected by their buses. Distance between electrodes depending on their radius, stress, specific resistance of soil and depth of contamination is determined by formula ɭ=R∙exp((2πHU)/lρ), where R is electrode radius; H is immersion depth of electrodes; U is value of supplied voltage; I is current intensity; ρ is soil specific resistance. Gaseous products of oxidation are discharged through a gas outlet pipe, and a liquid phase together with a pore solution or reservoir waters – through a pipe for electrophoretic flow discharge.

EFFECT: efficient cleaning of soil contaminated with oil and oil products, using electrochemical treatment without additional soil transfer and exclusion of secondary pollution of environment.
