FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the machine building. Rotary damper includes housing on one side of which shaft is installed with possibility of rotation and without possibility of axial movement. Sleeve with a main compression spring is screwed onto the threaded part of the shaft inside the housing. Sleeve is fixed in the housing so that when the shaft rotates, the sleeve only has translational motion. Screw with composite nut is installed coaxially with shaft with possibility of free rotation and without possibility of axial movement. Composite nut pre-deforms the main spring and is fixed in the sleeve so that when the sleeve moves the composite nut has only translational movement. Under action of the force created by the main spring, the composite nut represents two elements moving along the screw, which are extended by the compression spring. Spring force is adjusted by means of nut moving along extreme element.
EFFECT: resistance to motion is achieved, which increases as the speed of rotation of the damper elements increases in any climatic conditions of operation.
