FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to continuous metal casting. Proposed crystallizer comprises housing (1) with top (3) and bottom (4) seals, sleeve (2), cooling jacket (5) made in the form of pipe and device to center cooling jacket relative to sleeve in transverse direction. Sleeve is fixed in housing between covers. Devices for alignment of cooling jacket relative to sleeve in transverse direction, made in form of vertical guides (11), are located on upper and lower sealing covers along perimeter of external contact surfaces of cooling jacket. Total clearance between working surfaces of vertical guides and external contact surfaces of cooling jacket is determined by formula: ε=(0.01÷0.03)⋅B1/3, where B is the distance between the opposite outer surfaces of the cooling jacket.
EFFECT: providing uniform removal of heat from the walls of the sleeve, obtaining uniform thickness of the ingot crust, which increases quality of the workpiece.
