FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of noble metals and can be used for extraction of platinum group metals from spent aluminum oxide catalytic converters of exhaust gases. Mixture is ground in particles to an average size of 0.5 mm in an open crucible in a quasi-optical Gaussian beam such that the axis of symmetry of the crucible coincides with the axis of symmetry of the beam on the side of the open part of the crucible. At that, distance at which crucible bottom is placed relative to center of waist of quasi-optical Gaussian beam of microwave radiation is calculated proceeding from area of treated surface of charge equal to area of inlet of crucible, and power of microwave radiation source so, that cross-section area of beam at level of its entry into charge was not less than 15 % more than area of processed surface of charge and that at bottom of crucible average value of radiation power density in bundle was not less than 0.6 kW/cm2. After that charge is brought to complete melting, cooled melting product, which is a baked ceramic carrier with metal layer, concentrated on the surface of the carrier on the side of incidence of microwave radiation, removed from crucible and metal is leached only from said surface of melting product with subsequent reduction of obtained solution of platinum group metals.
EFFECT: invention increases extraction degree, reduces amount of wastes, power and reagent costs.
