SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pyrometallurgy of precious metals. The method of extraction of platinum metals from catalysts on a fire-resistant aluminium oxide substrate containing platinum metals comprises grinding of the fire-resistant substrate, furnace charge preparation, its melting in a furnace and holding of molten metal with periodic slag draining. Furnace charge is prepared by mixing of the ground fire-resistant substrate, the gumboil selected from the materials containing CaO, CaF₂, Fe₂O₃, MgO and SiO₂, the collector material selected from the group comprising iron, nickel, copper, cobalt, lead, zinc, aluminium, and binder. Furnace charge is briquetted at a compacting pressure 50-400 kgfs/cm². The obtained briquettes are melted in the furnace at the temperature 1500-1700°C with obtaining of the molten metal containing platinum metals. The reducer can be added into briquettes. Before slag drain the precipitator can be added into the furnace.

EFFECT: increase of level of extraction of platinum metals into smelting and reduction of hold time of smelting is provided.
