FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of protection of electric mains against short circuit by temperature control of terminal connections and can be used in industrial and household equipment for prevention of fire hazardous situations. Invention is a method of monitoring temperature of a terminal connection, comprising installing metal device in terminal connection or in close proximity to it, using a metal device as a base for a thermal sensor, for measuring temperature using a property of changing electrical resistance of bodies when temperature changes, using an actuating circuit, measuring or comparing, or monitoring voltage, which value depends on temperature change, with preset voltage, and in case of temperature increase to the specified value or higher the electric circuit is opened or broken, and after temperature reduction below the specified value the electric circuit is closed or restored.

EFFECT: obtaining operative and reliable information on thermal state of terminal connections of electric circuit due to exclusion of electric connection between thermal sensors and terminal connection.
